Help! What do I do if I have a tooth missing?

Help! What do I do if I have a tooth missing?

Losing a tooth is a nuisance at the best of times, but it often happens at the worst of times. If you have an event for which you want to look your very best or for which you need every ounce of self-confidence to see you through – a key presentation, for example – then a missing tooth can feel like a disaster. However, with prompt and specialist dental attention, a crisis can be diverted.

What should I do?

Aesthetics aside, a tooth that has been displaced or damaged needs urgent attention to prevent further damage to the living tissue inside. A knocked out tooth may still be salvageable so contact your dentist immediately. They will advise you on your options for either temporarily re-implanting the tooth (after rinsing with milk or saline) or how best to store it (in milk or saliva) until you get to your emergency appointment.

We are prepared for a dental emergency

At 76 Harley Street, our central London specialist dental practice, we appreciate the gravity of the situation and will see emergency patients immediately. We also guarantee that emergency treatment will be carried out within 24 hours – unless your health dictates a delay. At our London specialist dental practice, our lead dentist and prosthodontist Dr Farid Monibi is highly experienced in fitting crowns, bridges and dental implants. If your tooth is lost or has sustained too great a degree of damage to be put back then an implant may be the best route. There are several stages to dental implants; your prosthodontist will explain the timetable and the temporary solutions available to you. An expert in cosmetic dentistry, Dr Farid Monibi will talk you through your options and how to ensure your smile is intact in time for your big event.
